Do NOT call them “Mini-Johnsons”!!!

Now, the older that we get, I suppose the question that pops up is:  How much longer can we continue doing the band thing?  I do not know the answer, as I don’t have any plans on hanging it up anytime soon.  But, to add to the pressure to shut our amps down and move along comes the next generation of musicians in the area…

The above link is to a video of a song written by my son Jake’s band.  In the video, he is the one playing the white guitar with the white shirt on.  Also in this band is Hojo’s son, Drew (playing the DRUMS, of course!).  Jake and Drew have been playing for a while now, and to be honest, they’re starting to get a little scary.  On the one hand (as a parent), I am awfully proud of what they can do, on the other hand – I’m a tad scared that they’ll be passing our abilities very, very soon.  Among the influences that they have are bands like Tool & Dream Theater, meaning that if they keep on the path they’re on, with the talent that they already have, they will be tearing up this area in no time flat.  The other two guys in the band are Joey Dobson (on the left, playing the bass), & Drew Hulva (closest to the camera, playing guitar on the right).  Joey & Drew H. have been playing with Jake for a couple years now, and they’re both scary good as well – AND they all (meaning the entire band) play multiple instruments with equal skill.

Please keep in mind that the song is a demo…AND it was recorded at 3:00 in the morning.  Still, it’s ass-kicking for what it is, and I will keep you posted as to these guys progress.  I think it’s my & Hojo’s dream to get these boys to the point that they can come & fill in for us occasionally so that we can do some drinkin’ with the crowds.  We’ll see what happens on that front.

Changed Gallery !

Ok, I just discovered a whacked Gallery.  I will work on getting that fixed later next week.  However I have migrated to a simple gallery interface that we will probably stay with for a while.  I strogly urge you to browse with COOLIRIS (Formerly PICLENS) plugin.  It’s a great 3D for pictures that you can use on other sites like facebook, google, etc.

New pictures from this year are up.  I am removing 2006 & 2007 as it took up nearly a gig of drive space on our server.  If you wanted any of those pictures just drop a line to us.
